Dr. Karla Wade has been an educator of students with exceptionalities since 1982. She is currently director of the Spring/Summer Break Intensives for the Academy for Inclusive Learning and Social Growth at Kennesaw State University (KSU), and Executive Director of the American International Leadership Institute. Dr. Wade recently retired from a 30 year career in public education, most recently as Transition Coordinator for a larger Metro Atlanta school system where she had also worked as a classroom teacher and a vocational coach. She is co-author of From the Classroom to the Workplace (Mayer-Johnson, 1997) and author of Strategies for Success In Inclusive Post-Secondary Programs: Books I & II (KDP, 2012. Dr. Wade is honored to serve on the Advisory Board of the KSU Academy for Inclusive Learning and Social Growth, the Accessibility Advisory Council of Cobb County Transit, the Georgia Council for Developmental Disabilities Transition Task Force, and the Georgia Inclusive Post-Secondary Consortium Steering Committee. In 2012 she established Club College-Bound, an organization that helps bridge the gap between high school and the newly emerging Inclusive Post-Secondary programs. She is happiest when helping individuals with disabilities recognize their positions of power and worth within their families, programs, institutions, and cultures.
